Nursery

Ages 0-2

What is the Nursery?

The nursery is a room next door to our Main Sanctuary where children ages 0-2 can eat, play, and nap during service. We have rocking recliners for nursing mothers, a changing station fully stocked with diapers and wipes, milk storage, and plenty of toys for young toddlers. We also have swings for babies who need a nap.

We have a TV in the nursery where you can watch the livestream of the study. We do have times where the nursery gets loud, though, so we will always say that the best place to watch the study is in the sanctuary. If you need your young child to stay close by, the foyer is a great option. If you need to nurse and are choosing to sit in the foyer, the women's restroom has a seating area ideal for nursing and pumping next to a changing table.

We have two lead volunteers who have been vetted to work with children and have raised children of their own. You can read more about them below.

You can let the nursery volunteer know how long to let your baby cry before reaching out to you. For example, you can tell them to try various foods and toys to soothe them, but to text or call you if your child isn't soothed after 15 minutes.

Absolutely. Many moms and dads prefer to stay with their younger children, especially while their children get used to playing independently and being left in the nursery during service. We do require, though, that any parents in the nursery on a regular basis helping with children that aren't theirs complete a background check.

All parents keep their phone number on record with the nursery so we can reach you in case of an emergency. Additionally, all of our volunteers are vetted with background checks and receive training from Protect My Ministry. For cleanliness, we also clean all toys regularly and clean the changing table between each child. For safety in check-in and check-out, we use Planning Center. To pre-register your child with Planning Center to help your visit go smoothly, click on "Register a Child" at the bottom of the page.

All toys are sprayed with an alcohol-based spray after service each Sunday. The spray used helps stop the spread of colds, flus, and viruses like COVID-19 and RSV.

Once your child is 2 or even an older and more independent and rambunctious 1-year-old, they are ready to graduate to Pre-K, which is for 2-3-year-olds. In Pre-K, they receive a snack, color, and have lots of space to run around and play. You can view our Pre-K page here.

If your child is able to play well with others, they can likely still be in the nursery. However, we do have a staffed sensory room for all ages that is perfect for children having a rough day, angry outbursts, or if children need a more peaceful and secluded space to feel more at ease.
